OnScreen is a leading online film and culture outlet, providing year-round coverage of all the latest and greatest in the world of cinema. Now, as we continue to grow, we’re looking for new writers to join our team.
We’re open to applications from writers of any age or background, our only criteria is that you’re reliable, dedicated, and enthusiastic.
The core skills we ask for in our writers are:
- a good standard of writing,
- the ability to write clear, concise and insightful news pieces, reviews and/or opinion pieces to deadline, and
- a good existing knowledge of film and television, or a desire to learn.
We’re happy to hear from writers on all categories of film coverage, but we have a current need for writers on:
- daily news content,
- feature articles
- op-ed pieces
- VOD and streaming reviews
- testival coverage, and
- interview pieces.
Regrettably, and as is depressingly the norm, we have no scope at present for payment of our writers. The outlet is presently run head to toe on a largely voluntary basis, with what little advertising revenue there is put back into keeping the metaphorical lights on.
However, you will be part of a friendly team of arts writers on a growing website. We have regular get-togethers and as well as getting your name on content, you will at least have the opportunity to see some great* movies for free or even interview some cool folk.
To apply, just fill in the form below, making sure to include two examples of your written work. Ideally, these should be on a film-related topic, but it is more important that they are well-written and engaging.
*actual cinematic quality of screenings may vary.
