Sony taps James Mangold and Taylor Sheridan to remake Disorder

Sony are fast-tracking an English-language remake of Alice Winocour’s 2015 drama/thriller Disorder, with James Mangold reportedly attached to direct.

Matthias Schoenaerts led Winocour’s film, in which he played a PTSD-stricken ex-soldier hired to serve as bodyguard to the wife and child of a wealthy Lebanese businessman. Despite their peaceful and isolated environment, a threat soon emerges while his employer is away on business, forcing the solider to face not only an external enemy, but also his feelings toward his charge.

Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan is penning the remake, reportedly amping up the romance elements and creating a potential franchise character, as well as transplanting the action to Majorca from Maryland. Sheridan’s work will be done with the input of Mangold, with the plan to start production before the end of the year.
