Take it with a pinch of salt, but Ryan Gosling is allegedly under consideration by Warner Bros. to play a young Willy Wonka.
The casting rumour is linked to the studio’s in-development prequel to the Roald Dahl classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, set to be produced by Harry Potter and Paddington producer David Heyman. The new take, written by Secret Life of Pets scribe Simon Rich, is intended to dig deeper into the mythology of Wonka himself.
The studio were reportedly seeking actors between twenty-nine and thirty-five for the role, with Gosling sitting only just outside of that bracket at thirty-six and having come to their attention for the part by way of his own expression of interest.
