Ruby Rose “Kept Spontaneously Crying” When She Got The News She Was Cast As Batwoman

During her appearance on The Tonight Show last night, John Wick: Chapter 2 actress Ruby Rose exuberantly discussed the news that she had been cast as DC Comics’ superheroine Batwoman.

“It’s a game-changer,” Rose said to hose Jimmy Fallon, “I found out an hour before I did the premiere for The Meg and I was so nervous doing the red carpet, so I basically skipped everybody because I kept spontaneously crying.”

“I feel like the reason I got so emotional is that growing up, watching TV, I never saw someone on TV that I could identify with, let alone a superhero, you know?” And…” Ruby, an openly gay actress in a loving relationship, stopped to blink away tears, “I said I wouldn’t do that.”

Ruby Rose will make her debut as Kate Kane, a.k.a Batwoman, in the CW’s annual Arrowverse crossover, which will stretch across all four DC Comics live-action television shows (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl) later this year. She will then make her appearance in her own, self-titled series on the network.
