Ruby Rose Will Be The CW’s Batwoman, Proving Once And For All There Is A God

In a move that might be one of the purest “Of course, that’s genius!” bits of casting in some time, Orange is the New Black’s Ruby Rose has signed on to portray Batwoman in the CW’s forthcoming annual Arrowverse crossover event.

The event, which will play out across all four of the DC Comics shows on the CW network (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl) will be set in Gotham, and will act as a backdoor pilot for a Batwoman TV show.

The character, whose alter ego is that of Kate Kane, is one of the most iconic queer superheroes in comic book history. Rose, an out genderfluid lesbian who was in the military and is a trained martial artist, is almost tailor-made for the role.

Rose can next be seen in giant-shark-vs-Jason-Statham flick The Meg, out this Friday the 10th of August and rated 12A.
