Netflix Is Working On A Fast & Furious Animated Show

Netflix have officially signed on with DreamWorks Animation for an animated series based on Universal’s mammoth $5 billion franchise, Fast & Furious.

The show will follow Tony Toretto, teenage cousin to Vin Diesel’s live-action protagonist Dom Toretto, as he and his friends are recruited by a shadowy government agency in order to infiltrate an elite underground street-racing league that serves as a front for a cabal of criminals hell-bent on world domination.

Voltron: Legendary Defender writer Tim Hedrick and All Hail King Julien producer Bret Haaland will serve as executive producers and showrunners on the project. Vin Diesel and live-action producers Neal Moritz and Chris Morgan will also serve as executive producers on the animated show as well.

The next live-action film in the Fast & Furious lineage is set to be a spinoff based on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s characters, rumoured to be titled Hobbs and Shaw, and is due out in July 2019. Parts 9 and 10 – allegedly the final two films in the saga – will release in April 2020 and April 2021 respectively.
