Margot Kidder’s Death Officially Ruled A Suicide

Actress Margot Kidder’s death earlier this year has been ruled a suicide.

Kidder died in her sleep on the 13th of May, and we now have a statement from Park County Coroner Richard Wood which identifies her passing as the result of a “self-inflicted drug and alcohol overdose”. Margot’s daughter, Maggie McGuane, released the information publicly in an effort to be open and honest about mental illness, and in the hopes that her family will be free from shame about the subject.

Margot Kidder rose to prominence as the iconic Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve’s Superman. She was a diagnosed sufferer of bipolar disorder and depression, and was close friends with Carrie Fisher. She will be sorely missed.
