Lionsgate To Adapt WWII Novel ‘How The Girl Guides Won The War’

Film studio Lionsgate have announced plans to team with La La Land producer Marc Platt to adapt Jane Hampton’s novel How The Girl Guides Won The War.

The novel, which is based upon true stories from across Britain during the second world war, focuses on how the girl guides were an integral of the British spirit during wartime – from their efforts in growing fruit and vegetables to feed the hungry, knitting clothing to replace those lost in the blitz, digging shelters, serving as basic first aiders in crises, assisting evacuees, to even learning how to construct basic ovens from the bricks of bombed houses.

Screenwriter J. Mills Goodloe will adapt the novel for film. No director for How The Girl Guides Won The War has yet been chosen, and a release date is yet to be announced.
