20 years next year I faced a media backlash that still affects my career today. This was the place I almost ended my life. It’s still hard to talk about. I survived and now this little guy is my gift for survival. Would this be a good story for my solo show? Lemme know. pic.twitter.com/NvVnImoJ7N

The actor has spoken previously about how his portrayal of the goofy Gungan earned him death threats and abuse in the street, As noted in his post, next year will be the twentieth anniversary of The Phantom Menace, a date Ahmed Best is considering marking with a solo show across the US. It’s also curious to note that the cycle continues today, with The Last Jedi actress Kelly Marie Tran being hounded off of social media by constant harassment from disgruntled Star Wars fans.
