The long in-development reboot of the Highlander franchise has reportedly gained a new lease on life courtesy of a new script by Colony creator Ryan Condal.
Condal – who has drawn acclaim for his work on the Josh Holloway/Sarah Wayne Callies series – has reportedly delivered a screenplay the studio is not only happy with, but is said to be ripe for potential sequels.
An enduring cult hit, the Highlander series is most recognisable for its series progenitor, in which Christopher Lambert’s Connor MacLeod faces off against fellow Immortal Kurgan in contemporary New York. It would go on to spawn five feature sequels, two live-action television spin-offs, an animated series, and a pair of animated feature films.
John Wick director Chad Stahelski is set to direct the feature, and will now reportedly begin work once the third instalment of the Keanu Reeves action franchise is complete.
