Ben Schwartz Will Be The Voice Of Sonic The Hedgehog

Actor Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) has signed on to lend his voice to the titular blue marsupial in Paramount Pictures’ forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film.

The film is set to be a hybrid mash-up of live-action and CG animation, and will also star James Marsden and Tika Sumpter, as well as Jim Carrey in the role of the villainous Doctor Robotnik. The film, based on the SEGA videogame franchise of the same name, had been in the works at Sony for many years before the studio let the rights lapse.

Schwartz is no stranger to voice acting, currently portraying Donald’s nephew Dewey in Disney XD’s Ducktales, and voicing Leonardo on Nickolodeon’s new Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series. The Sonic games, which see the hedgehog destroying Robotnik’s evil androids to save woodland creatures, have sold over 360 million copies to date.

Sonic the Hedgehog is due out on the 15th of November, 2019.
