V to return as a feature film trilogy

Desilu Studios have announced a big-budget feature film trilogy adaptation is on the cards for eighties sci-fi event series, V.

The iconic series followed the events that arise following the arrival of giant spaceships over the planet Earth, with their human-like occupants – known as the Visitiors – promising to utilise their resources and technology to benefit mankind. Unbeknownst to the world, however, the Visitors are in fact a disguised race of carnivorous reptiles, and a human resistance movement soon finds itself the only force capable of defending the planet.

Creator Kenneth Johnson will write, produce, and direct the new feature adaptation, which follows a brief two season revival for the property by ABC in 2009. Speaking to Digital Spy, Johnson said: “We are delighted to team up with Desilu to bring the timeless – and timely – story of resistance against tyranny into the 21st century. V will be the first of a cinematic trilogy which will tell the full epic tale in the manner I always envisioned.”
