Insidious and Sinister could form a shared cinematic universe, says Jason Blum

As Hollywood continues to chase the dragon that is the shared cinematic universe, there’s reportedly some consideration of pooling the Insidious and Sinister franchises into one such model.

The word comes from Blumhouse producer Jason Blum, who recently told CinePop of such an idea whilst promoting new sequel Insidious: The Last Key. According to Blum, not only is the idea feasible and something that had been considered in the past, but it’s one which very well could happen in future.

“I hope so,” Blum confessed. “I want to. We almost did Insidious and Sinister and I still feel like we might do that so, I think so. I think we’re going to cross our worlds at some point. I don’t know how yet but we’re gonna try.”

Both the Insidious and Sinister series began with commercial and critically successful instalments, before giving way to less well-reviewed chapters that nevertheless continue to generate a sizeable profit for the horror label.
